About

Our Mission

GREENVERSITY addresses the urgent need to embed sustainability and green skills into higher education by adopting the European Green Competence Framework (GreenComp). We aim to empower universities to implement accredited green competences, support educators in delivering sustainability education and engage students in leading green initiatives.

Our Objectives

Framework Integration

Implement the GreenComp framework into higher education programmes, providing a structured and accreditable pathway for sustainability education.

Educator Empowerment

Offer comprehensive training programmes and resources to equip educators with innovative teaching methodologies for sustainability.

Student Engagement

Launch an ambassador programme and digital learning centre to involve students in sustainability initiatives and skills development.

Accreditation Process

Develop an accreditation protocol for sustainability competences within university curricula.

Our Plan

Framework & Accreditation

We will design a Framework to tailor the competencies outlined in the GreenComp to suit the needs of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and translate these competencies into measurable learning objectives.

We will outline a pathway for Accreditation which can be adopted by certification agencies of studies in HEIs ensuring that students receive a proper evaluation of their newly gained skills in green competencies.

Training Our Teachers

We will build a Digital Training Centre with open access resources that both trains educators on how to teach the GreenComp and an E-Course to implement the Framework. An in-person Train-of-Trainers (ToT) programme will take place to boost the adoption of this Framework among faculty members.

The ToT method will be disseminated as a guide for further adoption following this face-to-face training. The Digital Training Centre will also provide an overview of how green competencies can be applied across diverse academic disciplines.

Student Ambassadors

We will develop a Digital Learning Centre for students containing open source e-courses and e-modules. We will also create a GREENVERSITY course for students tackling essential skills for environmental challenges and preparing them for the emerging green job market.

We will also create an Ambassadors Network for students that promotes sustainability initiatives. The networks will be operating at local partner levels and connect internationally to share best practices and foster innovation. Events will include hackathons, mentoring, debates and seminars.
